Frequently Asked Questions
Below are some frequently asked questions about Medical Republic's hosted software
solutions
for health care practice management and billing companies.
If you have other questions not listed here, please feel free to
contact us. |
Is Medical Republic HIPAA compliant?
Yes. All communication and information is encrypted to ensure the highest
level of privacy available. The Medical Republic software is HIPAA compliant,
giving you the necessary tools to run your business and ensure the privacy of your
patients.
How does it work?
Medical Republic is a hosted solution, meaning that Medical Republic hosts the servers
and your data at its data centers and you access it via the Medical Republic client
over the Internet.
What are the system requirements?
You simply need a Windows-based computer and an Internet connection. We recommend
Windows XP or better (although the software will work on older versions of Windows),
about 10 megs of disk space to store the client, and at least 128 megs of free RAM.
Do you support Windows Vista?
Yes.
Do I have to purchase any additional hardware or software?
No. Medical Republic takes care of your server and database. Medical
Republic takes care of backing up your data, ensuring availability, database maintenance,
tuning etc.
Is Medical Republic browser-based?
No. Unlike browser-based solutions, the Medical Republic software provides
a rich environment that runs along side of your other applications like Microsoft
Office. Because it is not browser-based, you don't have to worry about browser
incompatibilities, annoyances (like popups), and security problems. Using
Medical Republic is just like using any other application on your Windows machine.
How do I get updates to the software?
Updates to the software are automatically downloaded and installed to your machine
as they become available. You can be sure that you'll have the latest enhancements,
features, and fixes to the software.
How much does it cost?
Medical Republic is extremely affordable. Your monthly cost includes the cost
of your concurrent connection(s) and a monthly account maintenance and support fee. You
can calculate your monthly costs on our secure sign up page.
What are my payment options?
Most customers have the monthly fee automatically charged to their credit card each
month, but there are other options for invoicing if preferred. See our secure sign up page for more information.
Are there any long-term contracts?
No. There are no committment contracts at all in fact. Getting started
with Medical Republic is simple and quick. You can cancel your subscription
at any time.
Can I access my data from anywhere?
Yes. As long as you have connectivity to the Internet and a Windows-based
device you can use Medical Republic.
What if my Internet connection is down?
Medical Republic automatically keeps a secure backup of your appointment calendar on your computer. If your Internet connectivitiy is interrupted and you
cannot contact the Medical Republic servers, you will be given the option to open
this backup of your appointments so you can fallback to manual processes and run
your practice until your Internet connection is restored by your ISP.
What if I have multiple locations to my health care practice or billing company?
No problem. Our customers frequently log into their account from multiple
locations. All of your data is available from your single account and can
be accessed anywhere.
Are there any time or data limits when accessing my account?
No. You can access your account at any time for as long as you want.
Medical Republic's routine account maintenance is scheduled during non-working
hours so it won't impact your business.
Is there a limit to the number of users or health care providers?
No. You can create unlimited users and/or health care providers in your account.
Pricing is based on concurrent user connections, not the number of user accounts
or health care providers you need to run your business.
What do you mean by concurrent user connections?
Concurrent user connections is the number of users that can be simultaneously
accessing
your account. The pricing is based on the number of simultaneous
user connections you want to your account. For example, if you purchase two
concurrent connections, only two of your users can be using your account at the
same time. Other users will have to wait until one of those users exits the
Medical Republic application. There is no limit to the number of concurrent connections
you can purchase.
How many concurrent user connections should I purchase?
The number of concurrent user connections you purchase depends on your needs.
If you're a practice where only one person will ever be access your account (for
appointments, patients, bills etc), then one concurrent connection is all you will
need. However, if you're a practice where you have several people who want
access to the system at the same time, you'll want to purchase more. If you're
still not sure, you can always start with one and add more later as needed.
Can I add more concurrent user connections later?
Sure. A simple call to Medical Republic is all that is required to adjust
your number of concurrent user connections.
Can I make my own reports and forms?
Yes. In addition, Medical Republic has a library of existing reports and forms
you can access and customize if you prefer. Your reports and forms are completely customizable so
you can make them look the way you want. If you prefer, Medical Republic can
make your reports or forms for you (additional charges may apply).
What kind of support does Medical Republic offer?
We have several venues for support. The primary place is our sales and support
site, which allows you to report incidents, give feedback and suggestions, or
simply ask a question. You can also
call or email us.
Are there support fees?
No. Your monthly account fee covers reasonable support for your account.
I'm a billing company. Do my customers have to use Medical Republic?
No. You can still manage other customer accounts using Medical Republic if
desired, however an account fee will still be required for each one. We find
that once a billing company uses Medical Republic, the practices they support want
to use it also since it gives huge advantages to both the health care practice and
the billing company. Visit our Billing Company Solutions page for more information.
As a billing company, who pays for the subscriptions for my health care practices?
It's up to you. Some billing companies pay for the subscriptions themselves
and pass the costs along to the practices where others make the health care practices
pay for their own subscriptions. The choice is yours.
Can I change from Medical Republic Practice Essentials to Practice Professional?
Yes. Simply call Medical Republic to have your account converted. There
are no additional fees to convert. You can also convert from Professional
to Essentials, if you decide to outsource your billing.
What is the difference between Practice Essentials and Practice Professional?
Practice Essentials is geared to health care practices that outsource their billing
by allowing them to transfer their bills directly to their billing center electronically.
Because they don't handle their own billing, certain features aren't available,
such as claim managment. Practice Professional is geared to health care practices
that handle their own billing internally and opens up functionality geared to that
purpose. Both cost the same and the features they have in common are identical.
Visit our Practice Management Solutions page for more
information.
Where can I download the software?
You can download the software from our support site.
The same software is used for all Medical Republic products.
Do you offer a trial or demo version of the software?
At the moment we do not offer a trial version of the software. If you're interested
in a demo, please
contact our sales department, or take a look at the video tour.
